Welcome

My name is Gerard McGuirk and I have been living here on the Algarve for the last six years. Having lived and worked abroad for more than twenty years and traveled throughout the world I chose the Algarve and Portugal now as my permanent home.

The main reasons for this are:

  • The weather and its special micro climate that keeps us cool in the summer months and warm in the winter.
  • The lifestyle that having this climate gives you the perfect opportunity to enjoy what life has to offer.
  • The beautiful long and wide unspoilt beaches that even in the height of summer you can thoroughly enjoy.
  • The safety and security of the Algarve is also very important as being one if not the safest region of Europe as we do not have the same problems as our neighbours in Spain with the Mafia and drugs.
  • The People on the Algarve are very warm and generous and are always happy to assist. Most people down here speak a number of languages including English and they are the UK's oldest ally with the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance more than 800 years old.
  • Food and wine is another fantastic thing to enjoy with bars and restaurants to suit all budgets.
  • Things to do, well you have the marinas, beaches, mountain walks, theme parks and now our very own racetrack with the likes of Ferrari and McClaren coming to test in the next few weeks.
I could go on and on as there is so much to offer.

I will update the site every few days and I hope that anyone who finds this will leave a message and input to a life on the Algarve.

Looking forward to hearing from you all soon.

Feliz Natal.
