Day 2 Testing - Follow Up

McLaren's Pedro de la Rosa set the fastest time at the new Portimão circuit in Portugal on Tuesday on the second day of testing.

De la Rosa's time of 1'30.080, set during a total run of 68 laps in Formula One's first appearance at the track was over a second faster than Luca Badoer's time in a Ferrari. Marc Gene in a second Ferrari was two seconds slower than the McLaren.

The McLaren and Ferrari teams were testing the new KERS system, new aerodynamic solutions for 2009 and engine endurance work.

Tuesday's Lap Times from Portimão:

Pos Driver Team Time Laps

1 Pedro de la Rosa Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes 1:30.080 68

2 Luca Badoer Ferrari 1:31 .320 71

Testing continues this morning at 09:00 with a chilly start, morning track tempreture around 9° C but warming up this afternoon to a nice 15° C, not bad for December. The winds should drop today as well with 13km/h coming from WNW.
