Algarve motorway cuts noise

Euroscut, the company in charge of the A22 motorway, is carrying out a study evaluating the noise produced by vehicles travelling on the Via do Infante to see whether improvements are needed to reduce noise in some areas. Euroscut’s plan of action has been sent to the Portuguese Environmental Agency (APA) and seeks approval to comply with the new legal requirements, regarding noise pollution, demanded by the European Union. Euroscut has been obliged to carry out the study as the A22 Algarve Motorway is one of the country’s motorways with over 6 million vehicles crossing it every year.

The project seeks to identify problematic areas, determine the amount of people exposed to the noise and the risks to public health.

The report will be available for public consultation until 5th February at Euroscut, APA, and Portimão, Silves, Lagoa, Albufeira, Loulé and Faro councils.
